A family farm being built in the middle of Bangkok, an animated series that follows its calendar, and a site that had to speak to the curious, future buyers and partners, in English and in Thai.
Vanilor is a family vanilla farm being built on a 528 m² plot in the middle of Bangkok. Fully planted, it will hold 1,000 vines, and every flower will be pollinated by hand on the one morning it opens. The farm is also the setting of an animated series of 52 one-minute episodes, in which Vanillin, a small explorer, looks for the valley of Vanilor with four companions: the crops that will grow between the vines.
The first harvest is still ahead. So the site had to make the brand exist before its first product: tell the story, explain vanilla, and gather an audience that will follow the farm to the harvest.

Four constraints, set from the start.
Every page exists in English and in Thai. Thai has its own fonts, its own search terms and several spellings of the word for vanilla. A word-for-word translation would have been found by nobody.
No harvest, no shop. The site had to draw visitors with what it teaches: how vanilla grows, how the pods are cured, how to cook with it.
The characters of the series are plants planned for the plot. The site had to carry both, the tale and the farming facts, without ever mixing them up.
Recipe videos, illustrations, visitor ratings, a waitlist: all of it without slowing the pages down or opening a security hole.
Static pages, built with Astro and served by Cloudflare.
Every English page has its Thai page at the same address under /th/, and Google knows which one to show to whom.
How vanilla grows, how the pods are cured, its varieties, vanillin: every guide shows its author and when it was last updated.
Every step is drawn in the style of the brand, and every recipe has a short video with captions in the language of the page.
Vanillin and her four companions each have a profile, linked to the page of the crop they stand for.
The stars come from visitors only. Sign-up is protected against bots, with no third-party form service.
Facts, logos, characters and a chart of how the pods are cured, which other sites can reuse with a link back to the farm.
